About AA and the 12 Traditions
Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) is a fellowship of individuals who come together to support
each other in achieving and maintaining sobriety. Central to AA’s success are the 12
Traditions are a set of guiding principles that keep the group unified, focused, and
supportive. These traditions encourage an environment where every woman is
respected, valued, and empowered to share openly.
At Encouraging Her Resilience, we honor the 12 Traditions of AA, which help create a
judgment-free, compassionate space. These traditions remind us that our primary
purpose is to support each other in recovery, maintain confidentiality, and encourage
openness and honesty. By following these traditions, we ensure that our meetings
remain a safe haven for all who attend.
How We Incorporate AA Into Our Meetings
- The AA “Big Book” We draw strength and inspiration from the AA “Big Book” using its
teachings to guide our discussions. The book is filled with stories, wisdom, and practical advice from others who have walked this path. During our meetings, we reflect on its insights, finding encouragement for the journey ahead. - The 12 Steps: We encourage every woman in our program to work through the 12 Steps of AA. These steps provide a powerful framework for healing, self-discovery, and spiritual growth. In our meetings, you’ll find support and encouragement as you explore each step and its transformative impact on your life.
- The 12 Traditions: By following AA’s 12 Traditions, we create a respectful, supportive, and unified community. These traditions ensure that every woman has a voice, a place to belong, and a group of sisters walking alongside her on the path to recovery.
Why You’ll Want to Be Here
- A Safe, Judgment-Free Zone: This is a space where you can come as you are.
Whether you’re just starting your journey or have been walking this path for a while,
you’ll find acceptance, compassion, and the support you need to keep moving forward. - Women Lifting Women: There is something extraordinary about connecting with other
women who understand your struggles. Here, you’ll find encouragement, empathy, and
a sisterhood that believes in your potential to heal and grow. - Faith and AA Combined: Our meetings blend the wisdom of AA with the hope found in
faith. Together, we create an environment where you can lean on both for strength,
guidance, and renewal.
What to Expect in Our Meetings
We follow the AA format, incorporating readings from the “Big Book” and discussions
based on the 12 Traditions. Our meetings focus on real-life topics, allowing you to share
